Our patterns have been called bold, graphic, happy, and even whimsical.

Inspired by any simple shape, our patterns start as hand sketches using markers and then are painted in the Pawtucket, Rhode Island studio. The sketches are put into repeat for printing using traditional hand printing methods, in an historic Rhode Island textile mill that has been in operation since 1937. Dye is squeezed through a 54" wide screen that takes two people to move together down the 50 yard long printing table. Colors and textures vary slightly and are characteristic of hand printed textiles.

We enjoy working with the trade on custom colorways of our fabrics. Custom fabric can be printed on a variety of grounds including cotton, linen, sateen, outdoor fabric and more.

Custom minimum is 10 yards
Lead time approximately 6-8 weeks

Balanced Design offers a custom pillow program to the trade.
Our hand printed fabrics are available in 7 pillow sizes, with 2 insert options,
and 2 edge detail options. Sewn locally in our workroom in Fall River, MA, they are offered at wholesale pricing and ship within a 7-10 day lead time for in stock fabrics. Purchase orders for pillows should be emailed to Email Sales

Often standard sized area rugs are not working in homes today. However, we can design with you the size, colors and patterned rugs that work in your specific spaces. Adapt one of our existing designs or work with us to commission a one of a kind rug that executes your own vision.
